About Zero Carbon Futures
Grown out of the Regional Development Agency, Zero Carbon Futures was set up in 2011 as an independent consultancy specialising in low carbon vehicle technologies.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Newcastle University, the company works with businesses, universities, Government bodies and sector agencies to ensure that the UK is able to maximise the benefits of the low carbon vehicle sector.
The core of our work is to develop electric vehicle infrastructure and we’ve project managed a wide range of projects which have supported the increase of electric vehicles by ensuring charging networks are developed – in homes, in public and in workplaces.
Our ultimate aim is to research and develop new and emerging technologies as low carbon vehicles move into the mainstream and become a major part of our transport system of the future.
Our company keeps abreast of national and international policy development and you can often find our team travelling all over the world presenting on the latest developments in our projects. As a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and with close links to the UK Government, we often advise on policy and strategy for the UK.
We also play an active role in the low carbon vehicle technology sector in our home region of North East England and are the lead for the innovation strand of the North East Automotive Alliance.
